Safety tips
The vast majority of listings are genuine. A few simple precautions protect you against the rare scam attempts.
Never pay before viewing
Do not pay any deposit, security or "reservation fee" before viewing the property and signing a contract. The rent deposit goes into a blocked bank account in the tenant's name, not the landlord's private account.
Beware of offers that are too good
Very low rent for the area, an owner "abroad" who cannot show the property, keys sent by post, or a request for payment by money transfer or cryptocurrency are signs of a scam.
Protect your documents
Only send a copy of your ID, debt-collection extract or payslips to someone you have met, for a property you have viewed. Black out unnecessary information.

For advertisers
Be wary of people who offer to pay more than the asking price, to pay through an intermediary or a "secure payment service", or who ask you for a code received by text message.
